Derek Corke

Working from observation, Derek Corke applies colours with an assured hand, catching quality of light and intricacy of architectural detail, creating an acute sense of time and place capturing the subject’s very essence. Trained in Fine Art and Architectural Drawing at the Christopher Wren School, London, Derek then won a scholarship to the Kingston School of Art. Currently, Derek’s work captures Singaporean scenes, preserving the pride and grandeur of the ethnic and the colonial, generating a stunning sense of heat and light with characteristic use of shade and colour.
