Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, Stephen Hall paints in acrylic on canvas. Moving to New York in 1978, he exhibited his work in New York’s East Village in the early 80s. With mastery over his realist technique, Hall’s diverse culture portrait series are living embodiments of surreal culture shocks. After returning to figurative painting, with a leaning toward loosely drawn sexuality, Hall is currently exploring the costume and decorative aspects of various global cultures, in history and present time, while still injecting them with multiple paradoxes of subject, light and color. We are proud to have his works exclusively in Dubai at the Okapi World Art Gallery.
